Skopje, North Macedonia, September 5, 2024

 – The BMZ Group has broken ground for the construction of its new production facility in the “Skopje 2” development zone for technology and industry in North Macedonia. High-ranking representatives of the Government of North Macedonia took part in the ceremony, including Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and Director General of the Directorate for Technological-Industrial Development Zones Goce Dimovski and the Minister for Finance Gordana Dimitrieska – Kocoska. BMZ was represented by Jelica Ivanovska, Managing Director of BMZ North Macedonia.

The new production facility covers an area of 6,800 sqm, with the possibility of further expanding the facilities in the future. With an investment volume of 65 million euros, the construction represents another important milestone in BMZ’s global expansion plans. From January 2025, BMZ will start to relocate its production lines from the current facility in Skopje to the new location. Operations are scheduled to be fully underway by May 2025.

BMZ is building its new production facility in the largest technological and industrial development zone in Skopje, which the North Macedonian government has been developing since 2007 to promote foreign investment and to strengthen the industrial economy. To date, numerous leading international companies, particularly from the automotive industry, have launched plants in this zone. In his speech, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski emphasized: “The construction of this modern production facility demonstrates the trust that international companies, such as BMZ, place in North Macedonia. This project is further proof of the positive economic development of our country.”

Ms Jelica Ivanovska, Managing Director of BMZ North Macedonia, added: “With this new facility, we are laying the foundation for BMZ’s future expansion while ensuring that we remain competitive in the global marketplace. We are looking forward to becoming a part of North Macedonia’s economic growth and to a successful future.”

Exactly one year ago, on September 4, 2023, BMZ announced its expansion plans to North Macedonia during an official signing event. One year later to the day, the official groundbreaking ceremony is taking place for this landmark project, which will further position North Macedonia as an attractive investment location and keep BMZ on course for growth. The previous office in the centre of Skopje, which served as an interim solution for training and product approvals, will be closed in May 2025, after the completion of the new building. The company is not anticipating any job cuts: to the contrary, over 700 new jobs will be created in the long term in order to further expand BMZ’s local and global business.
